Partner John Baldante Featured in Politico Article “Seton Hall failed to disclose key report to lawyers in Catholic abuse lawsuit” Concerning Investigation with Partner Gabriel Magee on Behalf of Sex Abuse Survivors against the Archdiocese of Newark

On March 5, 2025, John Baldante was featured in a Politico article about the fight for disclosure of Seton’s Hall’s secret report about clergy sexual abuse “Seton Hall failed to disclose key report to lawyers in Catholic abuse lawsuit.” The article discusses the Plaintiffs’ Liaison Counsel’s (PLC) fight for the release of Seton Hall University’s confidential investigation into child sex abuse on behalf of survivors against the Archdiocese of Newark.

Baldante, who is working on the case with partner Gabriel Magee, argued that “Seton Hall was under an obligation to produce” the 2019 report, which states that the university’s president didn’t properly report allegations of sexual abuse, and that “throughout this litigation, the defendants have repeatedly violated court orders and engaged in behavior that reflects that they’re attempting to conceal information that they’ve been required to produce to us by the court.”

“This is all engineered to delay ultimate accountability. This level of disingenuous behavior is extremely frustrating, and all we can do is continue to fight forward and try to stand up for these survivors,” Baldante continued. To read the article on Politico, please click here.
