Partners John Baldante and Mark Cohen achieved a $2.25 million settlement for their client against the Edison Township Board of Education and teachers Kenneth Bowden and Frederick Burkley in Middlesex County, NJ. In 1980, when the client was twelve years old, his sixth-grade teacher at Washington Elementary School, Kenneth Bowden, invited him for sleepovers at his Normandy Beach house, where he sexually abused him. Years later in 1983 -1984, when the client was in high school, he was sexually abused again by another teacher at Edison High School, Frederick Burkley, a woodshop teacher who also managed the weight room. Burkley coached the boys on body building, trained students on isometric exercises, gave them massages, and took photographs of them. These activities were done individually in his woodshop classroom where the abuse took place.
